Imitation is easier than re-creation!

If my name is written "Kev.O" EVERYWHERE in all my communications (websites, posters, CD's, emails, business cards, etc.), where do these variations, like "Kev-O", "Kevo", "Kev O", "Kevin O", and "Kev O." come from? In fact, on my MySpace page, I actually reinforce the spelling right next to my name. If I were referencing sombody named Jim in writing, I wouldn't write "Jym". To me, it would seem as if imitation is so much easier than re-creation, but maybe I'm missing something. Can you help me out?
